PRP facials are also known as “vampire facials” since it uses your own blood platelets
to stimulate healing factors to reduce acne scars, wrinkles, age/sunspots and or melasma. Platelets are cells in your blood that help with healing. Blood is removed from a vein in your arm and the sample is spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets. They are removed and we will use a “skin pen” for the treatment. It has multiple sterile needles with an adjustable depth for different areas of neck and face. The needles penetrate your skin and apply the concentrated platelets. This slight “injury” to the skin stimulates your immune system to bring healing factors to the site, such as collagen and platelets. Compared to injections, fillers, lasers and other cosmetic procedures the PRP facial is more affordable and more effective, and the procedure has a higher patient satisfaction in post treatment appearance. This same procedure can be done to areas of thinning hair on the scalp to stimulate hair growth, but the skin pen is not used for this. The PRP is injected directly into the scalp. The skin will go through the following phases of healing: Phase 1 inflammation, 2 proliferation and then phase 3 is remodeling. Who benefits from this procedure?
face.
is for all skin types.
We apply a topical numbing cream to reduce pain and discomfort. What is the success rate? About 94% of patients notice improvement in wrinkles in using the skin pen only no other skin treatment. How many treatments are required to see results? It varies from person to person, but at least 3 treatments will be necessary. How much down time is involved? It will take a few weeks for your face and neck to heal from the therapy. We can add Biojuve to your treatment plan to reduce your down time. Typically, it takes 3-6 monthly treatments and then you can get them down 1-2x a year. What can be added to increase the effectiveness of PRP and skin pen treatment? The skin will be red the next day and no cleansers, moisturizers or anything should be applied except Biojuve, a topical probiotic that reduces down time and appearance of redness that the treatment causes. No sun exposure either while the skin is healing. Biojuve has been demonstrated to improve appearance of skin texture, tone, fine lines, wrinkles and photo damage in as little as one week. Biojuve regulates oil production, skin is improved in texture, scarring, gives a gentle lift, reduced dark circles, reduced inflammation and appears brighter in before and after photos. Biojuve will reduce the inflammation and get to remodeling phase faster. Compared to microneedling alone, using Biojuve patients found that they had less dryness by 88%, 67% less peeling and 37% less redness. Why use a skin pen? The needles in the skin pen stay sharp for 80 minutes of use, they are sterile and the depth can be adjusted. Other ways of applying PRP such as microneedling can dull the needles quickly and do not make quick, sharp, unlacerated edges that allow the sites heal without scarring. Other devices can allow backflow, causing contamination. Some competitors have hooked needles that can cause damage to the skin and increase the risk of scarring.
